Gay ‘2 Dads 2 Twins’ TikTok star Adam Motz releases first children’s book, You Come from Love, on April 4, 2023

Written as a parent’s personal answer to the inevitable questions that his twin daughters—born through IVF and surrogacy—will have about their origin, the book is a celebration of roots, spirit, family, and love

CHICAGO, IL — Author Adam Motz expected that life as a new parent would be an adventure, but he never anticipated that he would share his parenting journey with hundreds of thousands of fans on social media as part of the dynamic LGBTQ+ family, 2 Dads 2 Twins. Now, with the release of his first children’s book, You Come from Love, he is imparting a heartfelt and universal message of love.

Motz, a Chicago attorney and musician, and his husband, Tee Lam, an entrepreneur, married in 2019 and immediately began the difficult process of having children through IVF and gestational surrogacy. Each of their sperm was used to fertilize eggs from the same donor—Motz’s childhood friend—and, after two embryos were transferred together, the babies were carried to term by one of Lam’s close friends. In August 2021, the couple welcomed twin daughters, Reve and Sky.

While Motz credits the medical miracles that made his dream of having children a reality, he knows that his daughters will eventually have questions about their origin. He explained, “when I someday answer my girls’ questions about where they come from, I want them to understand, first and foremost, that they come from love.” That hope led him to write You Come from Love. “Love means so many different things, all of which come together to explain who we are and how we got here.”

The book reflects the unique diversity of Motz’s own family—he and his husband are different races, faiths, and nationalities, and their twin daughters are different races—while also celebrating important and universal family values of love and shared history.

Those values have sustained Motz’s family from the beginning, when their health insurer denied them coverage for fertility services because Motz and Lam are “in a male-to-male relationship.” The couple filed a discrimination complaint against the insurer, leading to a years-long battle and a settlement for the full amount of the disputed costs.

Today, Motz and Lam continue to document their family’s journey on their TikTok page, @2dads2twins, which has amassed more than 275,000 followers, seven million likes, and numerous viral videos.

You Come from Love is a wonderful addition to the bookshelf of any family and all ages. It is available April 4, 2023, at youcomefromlove.com and major online booksellers. The book is illustrated by Jordan Aspiras.
